#dgbride: Spencer

November 13, 2020

Badass #dgbride Spencer married her soulmate, Nick, on during a gorgeous weekday ceremony on October 12, 2020. We absolutely love their intimate, close-knit ceremony and edgy, cool details. They totally transformed their white barn venue into the moody, modern wedding of their dreams! Thanks to our love, Shelby Laine, for shooting one of the coolest couples we’ve ever met. Check out their wedding below!

Spencer is a local artist who specializes in printmaking. She runs her own shop called “Sleeping Sounds Press” and she definitely utilized her artistic, creative side in her wedding. We love seeing all of her specialized details – like her embroidered handkerchief! (And let’s be honest, we love a little profanity!)

Spencer ended up choosing a gorgeous Maggie Sottero gown named “Ardelle.” Featuring an illusion high neckline, a glitter tulle skirt, and a bespoke corset back, this gown was a surprise contender for her. She expected to fall in love with a fitted, edgy gown, but the princess-vibe of Ardelle ended up being totally perfect!

We absolutely love how Spencer styled her gown. Instead of going very glam and princess like, she kept her gown edgy by including bespoke jewelry (looking at you, Blue Saddle Jewelry!) and a white chiffon bridal cape! Combined with her awesome tattoos and soft rock-and-roll makeup, we think that this is the ultimate queen look!

We can’t get over how happy & in love Spencer & Nick look during their photos! They kept their wedding day down-to-earth and low-key, which was perfect for a weekday wedding. They focused their ceremony on their love for each other and their close group of friends/family!

Thank you so much, Spencer, for allowing us to be a small part of your big day. We are so glad you are at DG bride!

#dgbride: Amy

November 7, 2020

Stunningly cool and collective #dgbride Amy married her soulmate, Brendan, on August 1st, 2020 at the Barn at Grace Hill. Their photographer, Allison Taylor Photo, did an excellent job capturing this couple’s joyous love; in every photo, Amy and Brendan were beaming! We love the light, bright, and airy atmosphere of this beautiful summer Sunday wedding.

We love how classic and timeless Amy kept her wedding vision. She planned her entire wedding herself with a very specific idea: clean, bright, and modern! The bright white and ivory colors were accented with gorgeous greenery, pops of pink/blush, and grounded by the grooms’ blue suit. Combined with champagne accents and this wedding was the ultimate late summertime occasion!

Amy ended up choosing a fabulous stretch crepe Maggie Sottero gown with a high neck and open back. “I didn’t really want any beading or busy lace, but I also didn’t want to feel too plain on the big day,” Amy said. Accented with gorgeous buttons down the train, this chic and clean dress was the perfect choice for Amy’s wedding day. We love how she kept her total look simplistic by choosing statement studs, gorgeous hair barrettes, and a scattered pearl veil!

Amy and Brendan were a couple who had to change their original wedding plans due to COVID-19. While their day looked a little different than they originally intended, they were still able to celebrate with an intimate gathering of loved ones.

“My favorite memory was getting to spend the entire evening with Brendan and realizing that nearly all of the mot important people in our lives had taken the time to celebrate with us,” Amy said. “With the craziness of the year, it was such a blessing to have this (safely executed) day after much anticipation!”

Congratulations Amy & Brendan! You were truly a joyous, loving couple and we are so thankful your infectious kindness was a part of our world. We wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness!

#dgcouple: Lindsey & Jose

November 3, 2020

Fabulous #dgbride Lindsey married her soulmate, Jose, on June 27th, 2020. We are so thankful for this couple; not only did Lindsey trust us to style her for her wedding gown, but we were also lucky enough to style Jose & his groomsmen for their big moment, too! Ready to fall totally in love with Lindsey and Jose just like we did? Special thanks to one of our resident fav photographers, Justin Casanova, for sharing these gorgeous images with us!

When it came to planning her dream wedding, Lindsey has a set vision from the very beginning. She wanted to keep her day airy, bright, and natural, focusing on greenery and cream/blush accents highlighted by the boys’ blue tuxedos. Even the weather cooperated for their gorgeous outdoor ceremony! Lindsey wanted to keep everything simple & chic – we think she nailed it!

Lindsey’s warm, vibrant energy radiated throughout Dress Gallery. Every time her or Jose popped in, we loved getting to work with them. You can tell they’re truly beaming with happiness in their wedding photos! We love how Lindsey relied on the natural scenery around her to truly showcase her gorgeous gown – can you imagine the skirt flowing while frolicking through the fields?!

Lindsey ended up choosing an absolutely stunning wedding dress from one of our very own private collections! This gorgeous a-line gown flowed gracefully, featuring applique lace throughout the skirt and a spaghetti strap v neck. Her champagne undertone perfectly complimented the green & blush colors she featured throughout her wedding!

“I had looked at a small dress shop in KC, but I knew I wanted to get my dress with Dress Gallery,” Lindsey said. “I’d gotten all of my school dresses there and felt comfortable with my consultant. I tried “The One” on second, but continued to try on dresses after that. I kept comparing every dress to that one!”

One of the most special moments of the day was when Lindsey & Jose’s daughter was able to join them for photos and their first dance. Seeing the photos of their happy, gorgeous family brought tears to our eyes here at DG! We love seeing families glowing on wedding day. Their daughter is an absolute joy – and we can’t be the only one obsessed with her dress!

When it came to styling Jose, we took our job just as seriously as we did for Lindsey. They wanted the menswear looks to be timeless, tasteful, and classic, along with complimenting the accent colors perfectly. We styled Jose and his tribe in navy blue suits with blush ties and brown shoes. Their greenery-inspired boutonnieres tied in perfectly with the girls’ bouquets!

Thank you so much, Lindsey & Jose, for allowing Dress Gallery to be a small part of your big day. We truly loved getting to know you both & helping you create the ultimate dreamy wedding day. We wish you both a lifetime of love & happiness!

Moody Romance Shoot ft. Custom Edison Bulb Fixture!

October 31, 2020

Okay, guys, it’s time for us to lovegush. We have connected with a new vendor in the Wichita area and we are head over heels in love! Let us introduce you to Nikki, the HBIC of Couture Ever After, an event rental and wedding planning service that is totally unique. Collaborating with our girl Shelby Laine, Nikki was the vision behind this romantic and moody styled shoot. We love how she describes her vision – not boho, not modern, not rustic….just chic like her couples!

Fallen totally in love with her custom-made Edison bulb backdrops?! You can rent them for your event!

We styled this gorgeous Essense of Australia gown with bohemian arm cuffs to add a touch of whimsical to the day. This perfectly fitted gown features a Moscato/champagne under color, a layer of secret sparkle, applique lace throughout, and a sexy plunging neckline. We think this dress is perfect for anyone wanting to highlight their shoulders and collarbones!

Can you believe the detailing on this gown?! Complete with 3D beading and a dramatic train, this gown is certainly a stunner! Combined with the architectural elements with this shoot and are totally in love!

For the menswear looks, we decided on our burgundy tuxedo, a moody yet sexy combination for a guy wanting a modern look. This slim-fit tux allows for the tailoring to be the star of the show while the fashion color keeps his look unique and cool. Pair with a patterned tie & pocket square to make his outfit pop!

Are you totally obsessed yet?! Run, don’t walk, to go and book Nikki & Shelby for your wedding! And then right after, come and see us!

#dggroom: Carlos

October 26, 2020

It’s time to give another #dggroom some love! We have to give it up for Carlos. Not only was he one of the most laid-back grooms we’ve ever had, but we was so patient with us during one of our biggest wedding weekends of the year! He trusted us to ensure he looked his best on his wedding day and, we might be biased, but we think he looks pretty sharp! Thanks to our girl, Shelby Laine, for these fabulous photos.

We styled Carlos in our Houston suit, a slim fit steel grey stunner that has become one of our most popular rentals since it arrived earlier in 2020! A perfect combination between dark and light greys, Houston is a great option for dressing up and dressing down. Carlos kept his look classic with brown formal shoes, ivory shirt, and patterned ivory floral tie! We love that he spiced up his outfit by adding a Stetson hat, which totally matched his personality.

Congratulations to the Rizo’s!

13 Spooky Ways to Make Your Wedding A Ghoulish Affair

October 21, 2020

So, we love spooky szn here at Dress Gallery. Like, Halloween is our jam. We love any opportunity to add just a little bit of ghoulishness to any occasion and we love when our brides agree. If you’re feeling a little extra mystical this season, here are 13 delicious ways to add just a touch of spooky to your wedding day.

Is there any thing quite so fancy and mystical than smoking cocktails? If you’re wanting your guests to feel like they’re drinking the most devilishly delicious witch’s brew, creating an atmospheric experience by adding liquid nitrogen to the cocktails ups the ambiance and “wow!” factor!

A moody and dark statement cake is a great way to add contrast on your wedding day. Sitting on the stark white and gold table, this cake is sure to be eye-catching to every guests and mysteriously decorated enough to make everyone wonder what delicious flavors lay inside. Combined with soft, feminine touches in the decorating, this androgynous cake is the ultimate dessert show stopper!

This handmade, custom coffin ring box is the ultimate spooky detail. What better way to show “Til Death Do Us Part” than small representations of the afterlife, right? The compartments allow space for both rings, making it the perfect backdrop for those gorgeous ring detail shots!

Set the spooky tone of your wedding early by creating your own gothic-chic invitation suites! Black, white, mixed metals, and pops of color keep your invitations edgy yet elegant. Add in some art designs specific to you and your spouse and these suites can be customized to fit your spook level. We recommend reaching out to a local tattoo artist to help create your look – a great way to get a unique design!

Bringing in accents of your favorite ghouls and monsters is another great way to add fun, creative accents to your wedding. Werewolf paws creating walk ways or these painted vampire teeth as place cards are small ways to little bit of whimsy to your wedding!

Is it really a spooktacular wedding if there aren’t skull details? Skulls are probably the ultimate gothic wedding accent, which makes them perfect to use in almost any capacity. Adding colored, bedazzled, or even matte skulls is an easy way to customize your wedding decor while also maintaining an edgy vibe.

Ornate frames are having a MOMENT right now and we are here for it. We see them most often on mirrors like the one above, used as signage for the wedding, but we’ve also seen them used with table numbers, photo table detailing, and even for a guest book! Using ornate, Victorian looking frames is an easy way to make your event elegant, but with a touch of goth, too!

There is almost nothing as dramatic for a spooky wedding as a black veil. This traditionally white accessory can instantly make any look bridal, but changing it out for black creates an entirely different illusion. With a black veil, you’re mysterious and sexy, a little edgy and dangerous. Combined with beautiful black lace to keep everything feminine and soft, a black veil is the best of both worlds.

Using your unity ceremony as a way to show your mutual weirdness is a great opportunity to make your wedding day your own. We’re a little partial to the above choice, featuring the sandworm from Beetlejuice, one of the ultimate spooky movies. Combine black-and-white detailing with pops of green & purple and you’ll have your guests low key wondering if the Ghost with Most will be popping up!

So there’s just something mystical and spooky about smoke/fog – don’t ask us, we don’t make the rules. If you want to add drama to any photo opportunity, pop a smoke bomb right before and let nature do its’ work to create a moody, wild atmosphere. We recommend a dark and moody color palette; we love when bright orange and purple bombs are used when the wedding party is dressed in darker colors. Add in a creepy location like a cemetery or abandoned building and you’re guaranteed to have the spookiest photos!

Creating a memorable guest experience is one of the most important parts of creating a modern wedding and what better way to get your guests in a magical state of mind than with a tarot reading? Instead of a photobooth, let a local tarot reader read the palms and cards of your guests. Not only is this a fun, interesting way for guests to pass time at your wedding, but its’ also a guaranteed way to make sure the cosmic energies are awakened at your wedding.

Monochromatic black-on-black is the ultimate way to create your spooky color palette come to life. It seems counter intuitive, but layering different blacks creates dimension in your photos and also highlights your love for the darkest, spookiest color. Add in black candles and candlesticks, place settings, frames, cutlery, and more to help add an air of drama to your decor. The only thing better? Getting those gorgeous wax drips on your candles!

Your ceremony arbor is another great location to add gothic drama. Whether you’re wanting something ultra modern and smooth (like black iron) or something more organic (like the dried foliage above), you can definitely achieve your dream spooky look. We recommend keeping the look a little bare, with lots of negative space to really highlight you as a couple!

#dgbride: Nallely

October 18, 2020

Time to highlight our gorgeous #dgbride Nallely, who married her partner, Arturo in a fun, upbeat ceremony in Dodge City, KS on August 1, 2020! This ceremony was a special blending of families followed by a heck of a party. They even included a mariachi band all the way from Chihuahua, Mexico! Take a peek at these fabulous photos courtesy of Medina Photography.

Nallely wanted to keep everything light, bright, and airy. She chose a color palette of ivory, soft pinks, and gold to accent the late summer weather. Arturo rocked a tan suit and a Stetson hat, adding a little bit of Western flair to this Western Kansas wedding!

Nallely chose a gorgeous sheath fit Essense of Australia gown featuring an illusion plunging neckline, frosted beading, and an extended train. This sexy silhouette is accentuated by her ivory/ivory color palette, truly making her look like a stunning bride!

“I chose my dress because I absolutely love the top and the back. Those are the two things that really mattered to me in a dress,” Nallely said. “I had saved dresses with those features, so when I found my dress, I knew it was the one!”

Nallely trusted Dress Gallery so much, we were the only boutique she visited! She tried on about 4 dresses before finding her Essense of Australia gown.

“I loved Dress Gallery,” she said. “Everyone was so attentive and doing their best to find what the bride is looking for.” She ended up finding the perfect fitted gown! During her final fitting appointment, we were able to accent her dress with the perfect cathedral length veil, adding the perfect amount of drama for her church ceremony!

Thank you, Nallely, for choosing Dress Gallery as your bridal boutique. You were truly a vision in your wedding dress. We wish you and Arturo many years of love and happiness!

In love with Nallely’s gown?! Tell us how much in the comments or on Facebook!

Shimmering Bohemian Forest Styled Shoot with Endless Treasures!

October 13, 2020

We absolutely love when other vendors reach out to us to do styled shoots. We almost never say “no!” to the opportunity to collaborate with other local vendors and create magic. Our girl Shelby Laine partnered up with local event decor dream company Endless Treasures to create this fabulous set up. If you’re wanting a wedding that can be specially curated to your tastes, reach out to the women at Endless Treasures – they can make any vision come to life!

For our first dress choice, we chose Chic Nostalgia’s “Alice” gown. This dress is the ultimate pick for any shimmer lover. The glittered lace throughout the dress picks up every bit of light and allows you to shine with every step! Featuring an off-the-shoulder flouncy sleeve and a soft v neckline and flowy, not full, a-line skirt, this dress is the ultimate forest elopement dream!

We love how Endless Treasures kept the styling for this shoot simplistic, vintage, and subtle. The mismatched china, the colored goblets, the dainty doily accents – all of it came together for a perfect, Alice-in-Wonderland type tea party in the middle of the forest! We love their natural window backdrop and vintage rugs to help elevate the space.

Our second look for this styled shoot is a gorgeous Martina Liana featuring a modern scoop neckline, spaghetti straps, 3D florals, and a huge amount of sparkle. This gown is truly for a bride wanting to make a statement on her wedding day! We love how Shelby captured the beauty of the gown surrounded by the trees.

Thanks so much, Shelby Laine & Endless Treasures, for the fun morning! We are so thankful you always think of us.
