Top 5 Trends You’ll See in 2020

March 25, 2019

There are few things we love more than spending time pouring over the newest, most beautiful wedding details that flood our beloved wedding magazines and blogs. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but we love getting inspired by other brides’ real wedding ideas and helping our brides incorporate their creative ideas into their own wedding day. There are few major trends we’re seeing for 2019 that we LOVE; below are five we personally love here at DG!

1. Acrylic/Lucite decor & details

There are few things more satisfying than a crisp & clean aesthetic. Many brides are choosing the beautiful, airy look of acrylic or lucite for their wedding details and we love it! Whether you’re doing signage, chairs, table & escort cards, invitations, or more, there are TONS of ways to include acrylic or Lucite into your wedding. Below are a few of our favorite examples. (Loving the acrylic ghost chairs? You can rent them from Supply Events based out of Manhattan, KS!)

2. Copper accents everywhere

Copper accents, along with other mixed metals, are becoming staples in modern weddings. Whether it’s copper piping creating beautiful signage or table settings, flecks of copper accents, colored flatware, or more, we think that this trend is great way to merge romantic and industrial design features.

3. Dried florals & grass pieces

While there will never be a true substitute for a gorgeous, luscious, bursting-with-life bouquet, there’s a definite trend toward edgier, drier look perfectly suited for neutrals. We love the dusty and whimsical look dried florals give, especially when paired with beautiful arrays of grasses, the most popular being pampas grass. Mandy Moore recently married her fiance in a burst of pampas grass and dried florals, creating a blush dried floral trend many brides are scrambling after. We love the creative use of monstera leaves, another popular wedding detail, as dried table settings!

4. Monstera leaves and tropical florals

We weren’t kidding when we said we’re seeing monstera everywhere! These beautiful, big leaves create a gorgeous tropical look that screams modern and bold. We love when brides use them singularly or combined together with other florals to create a multi-dimensional bouquet and accents. Whether you’re getting married on the beach or in a beautiful venue, monstera leaves are a perfect way to add a pop of greenery with a unique and cool tone.

5. Hanging elements, including florals and lighting!

Couples recently have been doing everything they can to create beautiful, memorable decor at their events, and there’s no better way to do that than to utilize ALL the square footage in your venue – and that includes the air! Having hanging accents allows for a romantic feeling while also letting you customize your day even further. Whether you’re loving the trendy floral hoops, the beautiful Edison light bulbs, or a fabulous combo between the two to make a unique accent piece, we are all for adding some dimension in the air!

#dgbride: Yesennia

March 12, 2019

Our latest #dgbride is Yesennia, who married her soulmate David on September 1, 2018 at their local Catholic church and their reception was at 54 West Music Hall. Their wedding featured beautiful ivory, gold, and mauve details and perfectly celebrated their Mexican American culture.

Yesennia planned her perfect day from scratch all on her own, utilizing Pinterest, wedding planner apps, and the help of friends and family. “I’m a very detail-oriented person and I love decorating,” she said, “so it was really hard for me to not be at the venue telling everyone where everything went. But I’m glad I didn’t because it turned out perfect!”

(How SWEET this is perfect shot of the couple? Instead of a first look, they opted for a sweet and tender moment together before their ceremony – but David still got to be surprised by her dress!)

Yesennia chose a beautiful Maggie Sottero gown to wear on her big day. It featured a strapless, sweetheart neckline and a corset back that allowed her to show off every curve! When she first started shopping for her gown, she distinctly did not want tulle. After trying a few dresses on, however, and being underwhelmed, her family and friends noticed a picture of a bride on our wall that featured a fitted, strapless gown with a tulle bottom. They convined Yesennia to try something similar and it ended up being The One!

“I only tried on about four dresses and I only visited Dress Gallery. I had originally planned to visit several, including travelling out of state, but after finding my dream dress with the help of my consultant, there was no way I was going anywhere else!”

“I loved my experience at Dress Gallery,” Yesennia said. “They treated me better than I could have ever asked for – with choosing my dress and afterwards. I couldn’t be more thankful that the DG staff took the time to help me look perfect in my dress on our wedding day!”

(We are also LOVING this picture of Yesennia and her girls in prayer before her ceremony. This is such a powerful and beautiful moment – it gave us goosies!)

Yesennia’s beautiful bouquet and other florals were courtesy of Sam’s Club and Dillon’s. We are LOVING how romantic and whimsical her dusty mauve and blue color palette looks! Especially combined with her whole bridal party – this is one STUNNING looking wedding party!

Brides often get the majority of the press when it comes to wedding day, but Dress Gallery was also honored to help David and his groomsmen find their perfect fit, too! We so appreciated them coming in and letting us style them to look great for their big debut, too! Here are some great group groomsmen shots (guess our fave):

Yesennia has the world’s best advice when it comes to brides planning their wedding day. “Don’t stress!” she said. “The day will fly by and I promise you won’t remember the little things. Enjoy every minute of the day because it goes by so quick. Also, get a videographer or AT LEAST a great photographer. They captured so many beautiful moments that I will treasure forever.”

We might be a little biased about Yesennia’s photos because not only are they drop dead GORGEOUS, but her photographer was actually Dress Gallery’s own official photog, Shelby Mahlandt of Shelby Laine Photography! We love Shelby’s documentary-style aesthetic and how she beautifully captures each couple’s unique wedding day, including Yesennia and David’s!

When we asked Yesennia’s favorite memory of her wedding day, her first dance with her husband immediately came to her mind. “At that moment, nothing else mattered,” she said. “It was me and my husband dancing to a song that describes us perfectly. It was a Spanish song titled ‘Mi Razon de Ser,’ which translates to ‘my reason of being’.”

Thank you so much, Yesennia and David, for including us in your special day. We are honored that you chose Dress Gallery to help you look and feel your best during your wedding. We wish you a lifetime of health and happiness!

Trends We Love: Women in Tuxes

March 6, 2019

We love helping brides and their maids find new, exciting, and innovative ways to create a unique aesthetic for their wedding – especially when it bucks tradition. Plus, what’s better than expressing yourself to your fullest – and what if you’re just not a dress type of girl? We totally get it! We want both brides and their bridal party to look and feel their best. Alex and Hunter, two of our formal wear consultants, decided to pioneer a creative shoot to showcase just how fierce girls can look in our rental tuxedos! Check out some of their photos below:

Both Alex and Hunter are rocking two black peak label tuxedos with white pleated shirts beneath. They kept it androgynous with the bowties and heels!

Hunter is rocking a black on black tuxedo look with fabulous beaded loafers and accentuated with a long, gold necklace.

Alex here is rocking our burgundy tuxedo, complete with matching pants and circle hat! She keeps it slightly casual by adding a statement graphic tee beneath – and we love the message!

We are loving how chic and powerful the girls look in these black suits, but we love a pop of color even more! Here are some fun, brighter looks they created.

Feel like rocking a tuxedo at your next special event? Our tuxedos are available for rental for all events, not just proms and weddings! Come in and let our formal wear specialists style you and feel as fierce as you possibly can!

DG Spotlight: Chelsea

February 18, 2019

Time for a new #dgWichita employee spotlight! Today’s highlight is on Chelsea, one of our bridal consultants and the newest member of the DG staff! Originally a KC native, Chelsea became a Wichita transplant after becoming a #dggirl. Chelsea interned at Bella Bridesmaids in Atlanta, Georgia after finishing her Apparel and Textile Marketing degree at K-State!

Chelsea is probably the chillest of the chill when it comes to bridal consultants. She is guaranteed to make you feel relaxed and comfortable during your appointment. Her favorite part of working with brides is helping dreams come true – whether that’s finding the perfect gown, accessorizing with the ultimate veil, or helping your bridesmaids look their absolute best.

When Chelsea ISN’T trying on the most gorgeous dresses we have and modelling them for us (watch for her on our Instagram!), she is the go-to girl for just about everything at Dress Gallery. Chelsea is a godsend because she’s ALWAYS available to be an extra set of hands. She is the coworker most likely to jump into a project without being asked, ready to help at a moment’s notice. Chelsea will often tag team with other consultants to help give brides the ultimate experience when there’s some available time. She’s also responsible for the majority of the bride communication that happens behind the scenes. Whether it’s addressing thank you cards, sending confirmation emails, or simply maintaining out digital system for brides, Chelsea is an irreplaceable help to the DG front desk.

But for real, how freaking stunning is she? Chelsea is also guaranteed to be the consultant that will make you feel truly like yourself during your appointment. She’s down-to-earth and REAL, one of the most important personality traits in a consultant. She’s all about telling her brides the truth and letting them understand the realities of their wedding planning. Combined with that, Chelsea is a problem solver. She’s determined in helping her brides find the perfect look for both their vision and budget.

When Chelsea’s not at Dress Gallery, she’s most likely napping. We’re half-kidding. She’s actually super likely to be watching a Kansas City Chiefs football game, cracking open a cold one with the boys. She has a great group of guy friends who often watch sporting events, and the Bachelor, together. Speaking of the Bachelor, Chelsea (& Courtney) is an avid member of Bachelor Nation. Bachelor wine nights are probably her favorite day of the week.

Chels was livin’ her best life at the Formation Tour! She is true member of the Hive, forever quoting Beyonce songs and breaking it down whenever she pops up on Spotify. Chelsea’s a big fan of dance bangerz and loves having a night out on the town dancing!

When she’s not fangirling over Beyonce, Chelsea loves spending time with her family. While we’re trying hard to make Wichita & DG a home away from home for her, we totally get it when she drives back up to KC for the weekend. We love seeing her on Monday mornings coming back refreshed and relaxed from a weekend with her fabulous family.

Also, you might have gotten the memo, but did you notice Chelsea’s EMAW obsession?

Here’s Chelsea having the moment of her life when she opened stemless wine glasses, fuzzy socks, and a ridiculous amount of face masks/eye treatment/bougie spa day essentials. We knew the minute she opened them that come the following Sunday, Chelsea would be Korean face-masking with a mimosa, watching her favorite shows!

While she might be new to town, Chelsea has already begun making the rounds for favorite restaurants and breweries. If she had her choice, she’d be eating Dempsey’s – specifically because “that qualifies for both burgers and brunch.” Solid choice, Chels. Solid choice.

Love is in the Air Styled Shoot

February 14, 2019

Recently, we collaborated with a group of wedding professionals on a styled shoot we affectionately called “Love is in the Air.” Shot by local photographer Tim Davis, we got the photos back and we are floored. We are always honored when we’re asked to collaborate with other creative professionals, but EVERYONE pulled out the stops for this beautiful shoot. Check out some of our favorite images!

The bride’s fabulous up-do perfectly matches the modern look of the dress and we love her peachy pink lip! Combined with the soft blush undertone of the dress and moody florals, this is a perfect color palette for February.

We couldn’t help but post all the photos of the beautiful bride, Hannah, smiling – her smile and energy was contagious throughout the entire shoot!

Can we also talk about her bouquet? Because really, HOLY WOW. This fabulous explosion of color and greenery perfectly encompasses the whimsical, romantic feeling of the photo shoot.

We have been in love with this Dany Tabet gown since the moment we got it in and we loved watching the dress come alive on Hannah. It truly looked like it was made for her.

The gorgeous venue creating the backdrop of all these photos is The Barn at Grace Hill in Newton, Kansas. We fell in love with the building’s white walls, clean lines, and pops of chic accents. (And one of our bridal consultants gets married there this year, too, so maybe we’re biased.)

While balloons might not be the first thing you associate with a timeless, beautiful wedding vision, local business Love of Character has the PERFECT artistic conceptions to create elegant, unique decor for your big day. Combined with beautiful florals, carefully curated tablescapes, and one deliciously modern cake, and this was truly a shoot to remember!

Hannah and Jordan were the perfect couple to shoot. Their 4 year wedding anniversary will be this May, but their love is as fresh and energetic as the day they met. You could see their love for each other in their eyes the entire day.

Check out those back details on the gown! Also, those decor accents courtesy of Endless Treasures are perfect!

We hope this love-filled, bubbly photo shoot fills you with as much joy as it did us!

DG’s Fav Wedding Hair Inspo

February 6, 2019

Sometimes, when the days are long and there’s a lull between appointments, we love digging through Pinterest to find the newest and hottest wedding trends. We love curating boards for our brides, making note of trend changes, and secretly re-planning all of our own weddings. Recently, we’ve been obsessed with the cute photos brides have been showing us for their wedding hair. Planning your wedding style early can be beneficial to both you and your vendors – it makes everyone on the same page about what to expect and how you’d like to look on your wedding day. Dress Gallery carries a multitude of different accessories to highlight your wedding hairstyle. Whether you’re looking for a traditional veil, a flower crown, a princess tiara, or simply beautiful hair pieces, we’ve got you covered. Here are some of our favorite wedding hair inspirations which can be recreated with accessories from DG!

We are LOVING hair vines right now. They’re a perfect way to add sparkle to your day in a bohemian, laid back way. You can curl them around a bun, braid them into braids, or simply place them with bobby pins for an effortless-looking vibe. Combined with crystals and pearls, this a great way to make a statement while still feeling bridal.

Smaller, more compact hair pins also make a statement, as you can pick the exact spots where you want pops of sparkle. Spreading these throughout a cute low bun or a messy up-do creates a romantic, whimsical vibe. Place these with intention to highlight certain parts of your hairstyle or accent your veil!

Speaking of veils – we love us a good veil. Whether you’re looking for a dramatic cathedral or a chic birdcage, we have you covered for all your veil looks. Combined with a fabulous hair comb and jewels, your veil can make a statement for the ceremony and then be easily removed for the reception. We love how these brides stylized their veils with their hair length!

We are all about wedding crowns and wedding tiaras, particularly nontraditional variations that feature leaves, florals, and jewels. Whether you’re wanting to be a Greecian goddess, a garden fairy, or badass babe, a tiara or crown is a great way to add confidence to your day. Add a veil like the top photo to combine the modern and traditional looks!

Bohemian babes asking for flower crowns have been flooding our store recently. We are digging the laid back vibes that both faux and real flowers give to any hairstyle. You can coordinate with your florist to create a custom piece to match your bouquet or take your inspiration pictures with you and find something similar off the rack. Regardless of what you decide to do, flowers are a great way to brighten up your wedding day look.

My short haired girls, you’re not alone! While many wedding inspiration pictures feature brides with curling tendrils in an up-do, we love when our short haired brides rock a romantic style that’s just as beautiful as the traditional updo. Complete your look with curls, hair pins, bold hair accessories, or a tiara that compliments your hair color. Everyone will be so jealous of your cute bob look!

For brides with longer hair, there are so many options for your bridal look, it can be hard to choose! Whether you decide to do a traditional full updo, leave your hair hanging long, or a cute combo of the two, there are an unlimited amount of looks for you to choose from. These are a few of our favorite half-up, half-down styles, accented with simplistic yet beautiful hair pieces. This creates a truly romantic, elegant look, regardless of your wedding day style!

There are so many celestial details flooding wedding world right now and we’re are HERE for it. There’s just something romantic and light about the moon and stars aligning over your wedding. We love how the perfect combination of traditional and modern has collided in many celestial wedding pieces. This hair piece combines the new wave love of stars and the unique look of chains to create something totally unique.

Come see us for all of your wedding hair accessory needs!

7 Fiercely Chic Gowns for the Modern Bride

January 28, 2019

As soon as Meghan Markle appeared out of her town car, the hysteria around plain & simple gown began. Almost immediately after, we had brides calling and asking if we had plain, chic gowns instead of the lacy, beaded trends previous. While lace and beading isn’t going ANYWHERE, we are loving how pristine and beautiful the simplistic gowns are. Whether you’re looking for a fitted stunner of a gown or more of a regal, princess a-line, any silhouette looks great in this classic look. Below are just a few of our absolute favorites available to be tried on in store. Make an appointment and check out these beauties now!

  1. Arleigh by Maggie Sottero

This beautiful crepe dress is the perfect gown for a bride wanting to make a statement with “less is more.” The sleeves are completed with crystal buttons that are mimiced on the back and trail all the way through the train for extra drama. An open back adorned with beading allows for a sexy feature without feeling too revealing. With this chic and simplistic dress, it’s destined to create some breathtaking photos!

2. D2750 by Essense of Australia

If you’re wanting to feel regal and supreme, this gorgeous satin a-line gown by Essense of Australia is the one for you. Complete with bardot, off-the-shoulder neckline and fabric buttons from neckline to hem, this gown is the epitome of romantic. Not only that, but this satin fabric is one of the SOFTEST you’ve ever felt – trust us. For someone wanting to create a timeless fairy tale look, this dress is a surefire contender!

3. GA2277 by Kenneth Winston

This down-to-earth gown is perfect for the laid back bride looking to feel both sexy and confident on her wedding day. A simple sheath fit combined with a tie-neck, creating a beautiful keyhole back makes this a simplistic but chic gown. Available in ivory and with a touch of pink, a perfect accent for a fun-loving bride who wants something a little different. This comfortable and affordable gown is a great option for brides who want to look great, but focus more on the other details, leaving their dress decision simple and easy.

4. D2027 by Essense of Australia

We love drama here at Dress Gallery and this dress is so exception. A full ruffled skirt helps create a true mermaid silhouette in this satin gown. The crystal belt addition is optional, making this a great option to either sparkle up or keep plain, simple, and chic. With fabric buttons from neckline to skirt, you get an extra bit of romance while also showcasing a certainly sexy silhouette.

4. Claudia Dawn by Maggie Sottero

This high neckline crepe beauty is one of our favorite new arrivals from Maggie Sottero. Featuring a u-back and a higher neckline, this gown is perfect for the bride wanting to to let her details shine. The crystal belt is an optional add on, making this gown a perfect canvas to create whatever look you want. A small walking train creates a timeless look, yet a manageable feature for your reception. If you’re looking for something truly unique, Claudia Dawn might be your girl!

5. GA2280 by Kenneth Winston

This simplistic organza gown is the ultimate dream dress for an ethereal ceremony. Whether you’re planning a fairy tale vision, a garden tea party, or a small and intimate soiree, this dress is the perfect compliment to any vision. Lightweight and airy, this gown is destined to make you feel as light and beautiful as the fabric itself. A sweetheart neckline and soft ruching accentuate the waist area, creating a beautiful a-line silhouette perfect for any bride.

6. 6705 by Stella York

This sexy Stella York gown features crepe material, fabric buttons throughout the train, and a cowl back, a unique feature not seen on many dresses. A sheath fit is made to accentuate curves, but also allow for a comfortable wedding day. The double spaghetti straps provide extra support for the girls and the modest v-neck makes this a great option for conservative and feisty brides alike. Plus, she’s under $1000 – you can’t beat that!

7. Cassidy by Maggie Sottero

We love Cassidy. This mikado mermaid beauty is perfect for a bride wanting to make a sexy statement with her silhouette. Crystal buttons adorn the back from neckline to hem, creating a beautiful, elongated illusion. The simple sweetheart neckline keeps a classic shape while also allowing for customization. This dress could 100% rock a blinged-out belt, a massive cathedral veil, or particularly dramatic shoes – between the silhouette and fabric, she’s a dream waiting to happen!

7. 6718 by Stella York

Girl, once you put this dress on, you will never want to get out of it. This fabulous a-line creation by Stella York is made out of the world’s softest satin fabric, making you one super comfortable bride for your wedding day. The cute off-the-shoulder sleeves are detachable, making a great design feature that you can remove should you desire. Combined with a modest sweetheart neckline, this great dress is perfect for any body type.

We hope that some of these gowns inspired you for your wedding visions! Schedule an appointment with Dress Gallery to try any of these gorgeous dresses on!

DG Spotlight: Katie

January 22, 2019

Our next DG Spotlight is on our bridal consultant, Katie! Katie first interned at DG in 2014 and became a permanent member of the team in 2015. She graduated from K-State (EMAW!) with a degree in Apparel and Textiles with a specialization in Design & Production. What does that mean for our DG brides? It means that we have a literal fashion designer on our staff. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable about the bridal industry in general, but she also utilizes her foundation in design to create customized accessories, veils, and more for our brides. She can literally take your dreams, visualize with you, and then help you create what you’re hoping for!

This year, Katie officially opened her own busness, Heirloom Couture Bridal. She specializes in custom veils, particularly cathedral, and modernization of antique and vintage apparel. Have your grandmother’s beautiful wedding veil you’d love to wear, but want to make it a little more your style? Katie is your go-to girl. Want some extra drama to your veil by having exact matching lace to the beautiful dress you chose? Ask Katie. Want something unique, like a feathered headband reminiscent of the ’20s or a birdcage veil to spark old school glamour? Katie can do that, too.

When she’s not sitting and sewing at DG, she’s often sitting and sewing at home. She transformed an extra room into her home into a sewing studio to help facilitate her growing business. Now, all DG brides can have personalized service and custom accessories for their big day, all done in house by a trained professional. Accessories and veils are just the beginning for Katie, too. The ultimate goal is to also include her own bridal gowns sold at DG!

How cute does she look in her little headlamp, sewing away into the night?!

Katie is one of the best resources brides have at DG. Consultants often pick Katie’s brain about potential alterations and customizations when helping their brides; it’s often a big tag-team of minds working together to help create what the bride might want. You’ll often see Katie running around with an apron on, clips attached, ready to help throw something together. Her passion for fashion, creating, and customer service is truly contagious!

Besides being a bomb bridal consultant and entrepreneur, Katie is also responsible for much of the back of house inventory that arrives at DG on a daily basis. She’s often the one inspecting bridal gowns as they arrive, using that eye for detail to make sure that everything is perfect for our brides. Above is a picture of her and our sales manager, Jillian, in Chicago this past year for Bridal Market. She helped curate the upcoming collections we’ll have at DG!

The best thing about Katie is her personality. It’s almost entirely impossible to be upset when you’re around her. She’s funny and witty, plus she’s rarely “too serious.” Katie is the type of person to take things seriously, but that doesn’t mean she’s serious. She keeps all of us laughing and rolling during long work shifts, company parties, and more. She creates the best memes and will be the first person to say “YAS, HUNNY” at a beautiful bride when she walks onto our runway.

(These are just a few of the ridiculous photos we have of Katie during the many company events we’ve had. Told you she’ll have you laughing!)

Outside of work, Katie loves spending time with her fabulous nephews, Dean and Wes, and reading/watching true crime docuseries. She’s a weird person and likes running; her and DG owner, April, have completed a few half marathons together! She’s recently realized her true calling as a potential HGTV show host and has the cutest house. She likes eating, drinking, and napping. She also loves spending time with her boyfriend, Chris, who should really jump on making that official forever, hint hint Chris. (:

Chris and Katie at their most quintessential – Katie making a goofy face and then turning Chris into a meme. You know, the usual.

Katie is a serious foodie, making her the perfect person to ask when trying to choose a good restaurant for the night. (Or the worst to ask because she wants everything, just depends.) Her usual recommendations include the Wine Dive and Newport Grill for a more upscale experience, Hana Cafe for sushi, and Ty’s Diner for burgers. And if you’re REALLY down to get Katie excited, ask about brunch. Homegrown is her favorite!

#dgbride: Lindsey

January 7, 2019

Our next featured #dgbride is Lindsey, who married her soulmate Michael on October 6, 2018 at Hotel Old Town in Wichita, Kansas.

We love Lindsey. We love all of our brides, but sometimes there are brides who just radiate warmth when they walk into the store. Lindsey is one of those brides. We loved seeing her every time she came in the store – which was often, because not only was she a #dgbride, but the men in her life were also #dggrooms and her girls were #dggirls. We are always so honored when brides choose us to outfit not only them, but also their loved ones. We loved getting to know Michael just as much as we did Lindsey for his tuxedo fittings! They were just a lovely, warm group we enjoyed helping very much.

Michael & Lindsey’s wedding was full of warm colors and specialized details to their passions. Lindsey is a science teacher, so her passion for science was shown throughout the wedding with unique details. She featured a 100 year old microscope on her favors table. Her centerpieces featured books, beakers, flasks, and test tube glassware to hold her flowers. Michael wanted grey suits for him and his groomsmen, so Lindsey picked coordinating navy bridesmaids outfits with pops of orange, red, and purples. We loved getting to coordinate all their outfits together!

When it came to planning her wedding, Lindsey let experience take the lead. She’d been a bridesmaid ten times (ten!!!), so when it came to planning her own wedding, she’d done this one or twice before. She planned everything with her mother, coordinating with the event coordinator at Hotel Old Town, but otherwise spearheading the entire planning herself. Her biggest help was utilizing bridal fairs; being able to walk around and see all the vendors in one location gave her multiple options without feeling overwhelmed. Her mother helped by narrowing down options so Lindsey could make final, executive decisions. Having friends & family help find reliable vendors without a million options can be a game changer for your wedding!

Lindsey had sparkle on the brain when picking out her wedding gown. She says anyone who knows her just knows she loves to sparkle, so that was definite must for her wedding gown. “I had done some searching on Pinterest prior to my appointment,” she said, “but most of them I just liked certain aspects, not the full gown. My dress was a strapless, sweetheart ball gown with a corset back and train. It had the perfect amount of lace and sparkle with an organza skirt. I fell in LOVE with the organza. It was the most comfortable dress I’ve ever worn. Yes, ladies – I wore it for 9 hours and it was super comfortable!”

“I tried about 20-25 dresses between 3 bridal boutiques,” Lindsey said. “Dress Gallery was the first bridal boutique I went to. I tried on what eventually became my dress during my first appointment, but I was afraid to commit. I knew in my head it was “The One,” but I had other appointments and figured I should give them a try. Most of the other dresses at other stores had tulle skirts, which I dislike. I kept comparing every dress I tried on to the one at Dress Gallery, so I made another appointment a few months later to go back and get it!”

At this point in the questionnaire, we are loving Lindsey’s honesty. Above, she mentions that she dislikes tulle. Dislikes is a polite way of putting. Our girl Lindsey hates tulle. To quote her, she hates it with “the heat of 1,000,000 suns” and it frustrated her when stores kept giving her ballgowns with tulle skirts to try on. We wanted her to feel comfortable, which sometimes means that some fabrics aren’t for everyone. We were so excited to find her a sparkly stunner of a dress without an inch of tulle on it!

(How happy do they look? We love this shot of the newlyweds!)

“My experience with Dress Gallery was better than I ever could have imagined,” Lindsey said. “I went back multiple times and ended up getting my accessories, bridesmaids dresses, and tuxes there. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcome and loved that you get your own private room. After talking to my consultant, Jillian, she started pulling dresses for me, I knew I was in the right place. She listened to what I wanted, but also put me in dresses I never would have chosen myself to help me find “The One.””

When it comes to picking a dress, Lindsey echoes advice given to her by her consultant. “Take photos of you in the dress, because at the end of the day, all you’re going to have left is photographs of your special day,” Lindsey said. “When she came out with the dress for me, it was actually 4-5 sizes too small. She clipped in me and I immediately started spinning and twirling. I never would have known that it was too small if she hadn’t told me and she made me feel as if size didn’t matter. Every bride should shop here!”

Lindsey is queen when it comes to giving wedding advice. Girl could literally write a book preaching the wedding planning gospel and we’d help her get it published, THEN give it away to all of our brides for free because she has some gems. She gives great advice on planning & sticking to a wedding budget, planning early and often, and not feeling obligated to “return the favor” when it comes to inviting someone to be in your bridal party. Our personal favorite nugget of wisdom Lindsey laid on us? Something we’d NEVER heard a bride say before and it was pure truth!

“Know your body type and bra size,” Lindsey said. “Have an open mind and know what compliments your body best. Get professionally measured for a bra and take it to your appointment. The seamstress that did my alterations pointed out that I was one of the only women that actually had a well-fitted bra. Thanks, Mom!”

See what we’re saying? She lays down TRUTHS.

Thank you SO MUCH to Lindsey and Michael for including us in your special day. We were so honored to be a part of your wedding; we cannot say how much it means to us that you allowed us to outfit your bridal party. We wish you all the happiness in the world and are so excited to see the photos from your many happy years to come!
