How to Throw the Best ICT Bachelorette Party

August 2, 2019

One of the absolute best parts of planning your wedding is also planning the celebrations that come along with it! While there are tons of great locations throughout the United States for a destination Bachelorette party, we’re big advocates of loving where you live – plus, it’s not always feasible for different groups to travel long distances. Wichita is an awesome Bachelorette destination and we are all about throwing a great party! Here are some of our suggestions to help make your Wichita Bachelorette party the MOST fun and exciting!

First up – where to stay?

When choosing a location for your Bachelorette party, take into consideration location and the amount of guests a space can accommodate. For large groups, definitely look for a place where everyone can sleep comfortably – no one wants to end up on the floor! Local hotels such as The Ambassador or Drury Plaza Hotel Broadview feature large rooms and downtown locations, making getting back to your room after a long night a breeze.

Want something a little more unique? Try checking AirBnB for cool and trendy locations you normally wouldn’t get to stay at! We checked some local listings and fell in love with this heart of downtown loft featuring trendy furniture and upscale decor. We also loved this modern Delano house, complete with amenities and simple but chic furnishings.

Second – what to do!

There are so many fabulous options of things to do in Wichita and there’s also countless articles out there about how to fill a Saturday afternoon in the city. But what if you’re looking for something specific for you & your bridal party? We dug deep to find some of our absolute favorite options in the city that can accommodate your group with either open events or private parties!

We love Flow Foundry ICT. Technically, they list themselves as a dance studio, but with group fitness classes, aerial silk classes, mobile set ups, and more, they truly do it all. We’ve heard great feedback from their private aerial silk classes – not only are they a workout, but it’s a unique and fun way to get to know a large group. They take groups as small as 6 and as large as 20 – perfect for any size bridal party!

Another great local option is Love of Character. They specialize in hosting private parties, making them the go-to place for your bridal luncheon or brunch. Not only do they host unique workshops that you could sign up for, but they also help make any private event a total Instagram dream with their balloon arches and decor. Celebrate the bride with bubbly and balloons, centrally located in the cool College Hill area. Walk to good eats and desserts right after!

For the fitness buffs in your group, check out Hot Asana Yoga Studio on either the east or west side of town. This challenging yoga workout is a great way to break the ice but also work out some serious muscles. Whether you sign up for a foundation class or have a private yoga session specifically for your group, the yogis at Hot Asana are the perfect people to help both newbies and diehards navigate through your class. After your yoga class, hit up Bliss Bouldering for some awesome rock climbing. They host special events frequently, along with private parties and open climbing. You pay for daily passes, meaning you can climb the entire day and get a truly unique workout.

Is your group not fitness lovers? That’s okay! Local favorites Board and Brush and Paint the Towne are perfect sip and create experiences that also allow your group to take a memento home! Board and Brush features a more rustic/farmhouse type style, with wood boards and metal accents, while Paint the Towne is a casual painting experience with a wide variety of pictures. Plus, #dggirl and #dgbride Allison is a Paint the Towne instructor – request her at your party!

We’re also all for bachelorette parties that buck tradition and do some COOL. When it comes to new Wichita businesses, particularly cool ones, one of our absolute favorites is Blade and Timber, an axe throwing bar that allows you to release some aggression and have a good time doing it! While the appeal is definitely in the axe throwing, this grill features cocktails and food as well, meaning you can eat and sip throughout the entire time you’re throwing. Make sure you book your lane in advance – their reservations go fast!

Finally, ready to take a step out of the city, breathe, and relax? What better way than viewing Kansas’s gorgeous natural landscape on horse back? C-Arrow Stables in Maize features hourly rentals for trail rides, along with group events and private riding lessons. This is the perfect afternoon activity for groups who want to have tons of fun, but also do something radically different for their party!

Third – where to drink (and eat!)

Whether you’re headed out for the night or ready to drink a few cocktails during the day, Wichita has TONS of great food & beverage options to keep your group well fed and (mostly) hydrated. If you’re looking for great places to chat, relax, and imbibe, here are some of our absolute favorites in town!

Before the night gets starting and swinging, we recommend stopping by local chocolate hot spot Cocoa Dolce to sip wine, taste unique flavors, and hang out in their chocolate lounge. The perfect place to unwind after a hectic afternoon, Cocoa Dolce is the perfect “in between” place as you’re going from one location to the next. A few nibbles on their delicious artisan chocolates paired perfectly with their house wines, you’ll be in love!

Chicken N Pickle is a totally unique eatery complete with indoor/outdoor pickleball courts, corn hole, yard games, and more. Combined with a delicious food menu and awesome local brews, you’re sure to find something for everyone in your party. We also love that this franchise is based out of Kansas City with Wichita being their newest location! Find this sprawling, cool restaurant at 13th and Greenwich next to the Warren and Braums.

Another local favorite is Norton’s Brewing Company, located off St. Francis and Douglas street. Started by a Wichita beer brewing veteran and his wife, we totally dig the laid back atmosphere and open concept area that allows for groups of all types to interact together. With large communal tables, a large outdoor patio area complete with chairs, and totally unique brews, this new brewery has quickly become a staple within the community. Norton’s isn’t the only great microbrewery in town, though. If you’re beer drinkers, check out Hopping GnomeCentral StandardAero PlainsRiver City, and more! If your group are big beer drinkers, this is a perfect opportunity to do a bar crawl/hop to each of these great locations!

If you’re feeling adventurous, a hibachi bar like Sumo is a great option for good eats & entertainment. Not only do they have great hibachi chefs, but also delicious cocktails. While Sumo also has a great sushi bar, we’d be remiss if we didn’t include some of our absolute favorite sushi places on the list, including Blue Fin Sake BarWasabi, and Sakura! Not a sushi fan? That’s okay – Yokohama Ramen is a perfect balance of delicious cuisine, cozy seating, and upbeat atmosphere for your group!

Feeling a little more upscale? For bachelorette groups ready to put on their cocktail dresses and heels, Wichita has some awesome mixology spots that will give you the absolute best in the world of cocktails. Cana Wine & Cocktails is a new cocktail bar based downtown in the historic Petroleum building, featuring specialty drinks and a champagne room that would be GORGEOUS to sip and chat with your girls. Vorshay’s Cocktail Lounge on Douglas Street features a cool, swanky atmosphere. For the truly extravagant, a table reserved at Dockum, the speakeasy located below the Ambassador Hotel, is a chic, unique bar filled with libations and a truly mysterious vibe.

For brides wanting a more intimate and tailored food experience, or just the coolest dinner party EVER, then we recommend Rent the Chef, a customizable culinary experience that comes to you! Chef Jason Febres will make a multiple course dinner for large parties at private locations, often complete with cocktails. Instead of a busy and loud restaurant, have a truly once-in-a-lifetime dinner and truly impress the whole party. Start the night out with a private meal, followed by cocktails on a patio and you already have one swanky, cool night out!

There are so many great options of cool businesses to look into for your bachelorette party. We definitely missed TONS of great options – let us know some of your favorites in our Facebook comments!
